Motorcycle Community, UNITE! for this, is the modern way……

Community is important to every one, and although this is a Motorcycle website, I’m not just talking about Motorcycle communities. When times get tough, we all need our “community” and friends to help us get through the sh*t.

“the kid’s just had his twelfth birthday and now he’s told that he has Cancer?!”

Two days ago, I was at work in the kids school where I teach English in Barcelona. The kids were passing around a piece of paper and asked if I wanted to sign it for Marc’s birthday, he’d been off school for about 3 weeks at that point with pneumonia, at least that’s what everyone thought at the time. I was amazed to see these little kids rally round to send some support to him this way and impressed that they hadn’t forgot.

Today however, I found out that Marc has Cancer and will have to under-go 6 months of Chemotherapy, the kid’s just had his twelfth birthday and now he’s being told that he has Cancer?! If there is any justice in this world……

Charlie-boorman

Charley Boorman has of course done a great deal for charity, by pulling the motorcycle community together.

So the point I guess I’m getting at is this, enjoy what you have, love the people you love and do the things you dream of doing. The older I get, the more I realise how valuable life really is and if one thing is for sure, NOTHING is certain. Marc’s parents thought he had a cold, then Pneumonia, only to find out this awful truth.

It’s at times like this that I realise how amazing people running charities are. They don’t shy away from the grim reality of life, they get stuck in and do something about it, they’re communities, making a difference. I got an email from Daniel recently, a guy who works for www.giveacar.co.uk. They are a a not-for-profit organisation which organises the collection and recycling of unwanted vehicles, with the proceeds of each vehicle going to charity. They’ve recently started taking motorcycles as well.
Working with over 250 charities they’ve raised over £200,000 in the past year through car donation, and NOW is the time for the Motorcycle community to get involved.

Come on guys, you know we can do this bigger and better than any boring old “Car driver” Ben @QN-HQ
