“It is actually the first shaft driven motorcycle we have ridden that feels like it was chain driven”

The Suzuki GS1000G truly is a heavy weight cruiser, fitted with a 22 litre (5.8 Galon) fuel tank, this bike will get you where your going….and then some.

A strong characteristic of the Suzuki GS1000G is the “Shaft drive” which propels this beautiful machine forward. Back in the day, Suzuki spent ALOT of money and time, developing a shaft drive that wasn’t floored like so many of the other shaft driven motorcycles of it’s time. In fact, a review back in the 80’s by a Swedish bike magazine, reported that “It is actually the first shaft driven motorcycle we have ridden that feels like it was chain driven”.

“Not bad for an old lead sled”

The Suzuki GS1000G had/has 275mm twin disc breaks at the front end and by 1980’s standards, it was a prize contender which much like Kawasaki’s original Z1, was a big step forward for Suzuki. The rear end break however, was said to be TOO effective and would lock the rear wheel at the drop of a hat….I like the sound of this bike, a mind of her own…no-one likes a push-over.

WolfGang, has lovingly restored his Suzuki GS1000G to more than it’s former glory. Cleaned carbs, boneyard parts, new seals, new shoes, rubber, SUPER SEXY-SUPER BIKE bars which I think give it the attitude it deserves and is topped off with a rattle tank job, all for under 1000 dollars. As Wolfgang says himself “Not bad for an old lead sled”.

As far as BIG-OLD-SUZUKI-BIKES go, the Suzuki GS1000G is about as much fun as you will ever have. This one in particular is living the American dream with Wolfgang on the back roads of Virginia……………….enjoy her brother, she’s a keeper.
